Accra, May 29, GNA – ECOWAS officials and representatives of member-states, have begun to arrive ahead of tomorrow’s extraordinary meeting.
ECOWAS President, Mr. KadrÃ© Desire Ouedraogo, and the Guinean Foreign Minister, who would represent his President, have both arrived in Accra.
Although a few others are expected to arrive later today, majority of the heads of state would arrive tomorrow, May 30, to attend the meeting.
The extraordinary meeting is the first to be convened by President Mahama, since his assumption to the position of Chairman of the ECOWAS.
The meeting is expected to focus on terrorism and the activities of Boko Haram in Nigeria, where over 200 school girls are being held hostage by the group.
The meeting is also in fulfillment of President Mahama’s promise, on his election, to improve existing structures to enhance regional co-operation.
