Accra, May 29, GNA – ECOWAS officials and representatives of member-states have begun arriving in Accra ahead of tomorrow’s extraordinary meeting.
ECOWAS President, Mr. KadrÃ© Ouedraogo, and the Guinean Foreign Minister, who would represent his President, have both arrived in Accra.
Although a few others are expected to arrive later today, majority of the heads of state would arrive tomorrow, May 31, to attend the meeting.
The extraordinary meeting is the first to be convened by President Mahama since his assumption of the position of Chairman of ECOWAS.
The meeting is expected to focus on terrorism and the activities of Boko Haram in Nigeria, where over 200 school girls are being held hostage by the group.
The meeting is also in fulfilment of President Mahama’s promise, on his election, to improve existing structures, to enhance regional co-operation.
