He made this appeal when the Youth and Sports Minister, Hon. Mahama Ayariga visited the Lizzy Sports Complex which is owned by the legend on the World International Youth Day.

According to Desailly, government needs to partner with the private sector to build such facilities around the country so that communities can have access to such good sporting facilities.

Hon. Ayariga who was flabbergasted with the facilities at the Lizzy Sports Complex during a tour noted that, “Lizzy Sports Complex gives an indication that Ghanaians in every community are yearning for very good sports recreational venues”.

The Youth and Sports Minister however assured Mr. Desailly that his visit is an indication that government is thinking and is going to pursue the ideas Mr. Desailly is espousing and he will act quickly to bring these ideas into fruition.

Today marks International Youth Day, an initiative that takes place on 12 August every year to celebrate the potential of youth as partners in today’s global society.

12th August was designated as International Youth Day [IYD] by the UN General Assembly in 1999.
It is meant as an opportunity for governments and others to draw attention to key issues concerning the youth worldwide.
