Define Roles Of Presidential Staffers – MP Tells Prez

Member of Parliament for Tema East, Titus Glover has called on the Presidency to define the roles of Staffers at the Flagstaff House.

Speaking on Oman FM, Titus Glover was alarmed at the number of Staffers around President John Dramani Mahama and believed the numbers should have helped him effectively steer the affairs of the country.

But to him, the work of 678 plus Presidential staffers does not reflect the true state of the economy, hence the lack of good governance by the Mahama government.

As at December last year, the number of Presidential staffers was pegged at 678 but the number has reportedly hiked up to about 703.

The list of staffers include Ministers of State at the Presidency, Senior Presidential advisers, Presidential staffers, Presidential aides, persons working directly at the office of the President, Gardeners, night watchmen and household staff.

The list, which was presented on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, also includes Chief Directors, Staff from the Ghana Health Service, Controller and Accountant General’s Department, Chief of Staff, Executive Secretary to the President and Secretary to Cabinet among others.

Analyzing the tall list of people working at the Presidency, Titus Glover sought to find out their respective duties since in his view; the Presidential staffers appear to have failed to execute their official duties effectively.

He cited the growing lawns and other lapses at the Flagstaff House which he held could have been avoided if indeed all the 703 staffers were on the floor efficiently executing their task.
