Defiant Polo won’t quit ‘crisis’ hit Hearts
by Michael Oti Adjei
Mohammed Polo insists he won’t “resign under duress” as Hearts of Oak coach after admitting there is a crisis within the club.
Hearts have struggled since Polo took charge in controversial circumstances from David Duncan but things came to a head on Wednesdaywhen the Phobians lost 0-3 on their own grounds against Wa All Stars.
The Hearts fans made their feelings known to Polo and the club legend responded in an emotional post match interview insisting he won’t quit now. “I feel very bad. If I look at the game in totality we deserved something. We had chances but we lost it and they utilized theirs. Sometimes football does not tell the truth. We did not deserve to lose”, Polo says.
There were many Hearts fans calling for the dismissal of Polo whose appointment was unpopular from day one. He fears the acrimony from that appointment is affecting the club’s progress.
“Of course there is a crisis in Hearts of Oak”, Polo said. “There is a lack of unity and cuts across. There was some misunderstanding when I came in but someone has to do the job. If I take it have I done anything wrong?”
Hearts have won once in four league games under Polo and drawn one. Their loss against Wa All Stars was their second in succession while the Phobians have been dumped out of the MTN FA Cup.
