C/R minister calls for peace
Senya Beraku (C/R), Aug. 29, GNA – The Central Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Sarpong, has called on Ghanaians to ensure peace to attract investors into the country, to expand the economy and create more employment for the people.
The Minister made the call at a durbar to climax this year’s Annual Akumase festival of the chiefs and people of Senya Beraku in the Central Region.
The event was on the theme: ‘Unity, Peace and Discipline: Requisite Tools for Proper Community Development’.
He said Government was committed to ensuring the growth and development of cultural institutions to make them relevant to development, democratic governance and national integration.
Mr Sarpong appealed to chiefs to work with Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies to promote culture.
The Awutu-Senya District Chief Executive, Mr Sampson Armah, said Government has implemented projects in the area, to improve the standards of living of the people.
The chairman of the Senya Urban Council, Mr Alex Essoun, said Akumase festival has direct link with the Homowo festival of the Gas, which literally means hooting at hunger.
Mr Essoun appealed to the Government to fulfill its promise to construct a landing beach at Senya.
