China Commends Ghana’s Democratic Dispensation

Ms Sun Baohong, the Chinese Ambassador, has praised Ghana’s democratic dispensation and pledged to work closely with the country in deepening relations.

She said the future of Ghana is bright because of its aim to promote peace and stability and expressed her commitment to strengthen bilateral ties.

Ms Sun made the commendation when she paid a courtesy call on Dr Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, Accra Metropolitan Chief Executive.

She said China has a lot of experiences to share with the Ghanaian business community, which would transform the bilateral trade, adding that Ghana is the seventh trade partner of her country on the African continent.

Ms Sun lauded Ghana for maintaining friendship with China since the country’s independence.

She said presently more Ghanaian students are on scholarship studying in China to enhance their knowledge for national development.

Dr Vanderpuije lauded China for supporting Ghana’s economy to improve the lives of the people.

He said China had been Ghana’s major partner over the years, and expressed the hope that the country would be supportive of some of the measures the Accra Metropolitan Authority (AMA) had taken to make Accra cleaner.

In another development, Dr Vanderpuije cut a sod for the construction of a 15-million-Ghana cedi millennium city hall at Kinbu Gardens in Accra.

Briefing the media, he said, the project comprise a 300-capacity assembly hall, offices for some departments in the AMA and a car park to take about 200 cars, which is expected to be completed in a year’s time.
