Technical Problem Halts Work In Parliament

The business of the Parliament of Ghana was on Wednesday delayed as a result of a technical problem. The proceedings, which normally commences at 1000 hours had to be delayed, as technicians worked assiduously to fix the problem that impaired the communications network of the House till about 1240 hours

Alleged Killers Of British/American Missionary Case Adjourned

The case in which two persons are being held for the murder of Sidney Thomas Barnes, a British/American Missionary at Nsawam, two years ago was on Wednesday adjourned. The matter before an Accra District Magistrate Court was adjourned to March 7, following the non appearance of the accused persons in court. The two namely Kofi Seidu, a driver and Reverend Goodwill Padmore have been remanded into lawful custody by the court.

EC begs GES to release teachers for registration exercise else…

The Electoral Commission will be looking elsewhere for biometric registration officers if it fails to convince the Ghana Education Service to release teachers for the registration exercise which begins next month. According to the GES, it is unable to release teachers for the exercise due to its residual disruption of the academic calendar.

Is Mills the only president who has been insulted? – Baako ask

Kwaku Baako Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, has stated that though he frowns upon insults on the person of the President, he thinks there is no big deal with the phenomenon because Mills is not the first president to have suffered such attacks. According to him, many past presidents and presidential candidates – like ex-president Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo – have had to put up with insults and harsh criticisms at one point or the other.

Uncertainty over biometric registration; GES, EC lock horns

Dr. kwadwo Afari Gyan, EC Boss The Electoral Commission has said its upcoming biometric registration exercise is set to face serious challenges following a decision by the Ghana Education Service (GES) to withdraw teacher participation in the exercise. The GES had said it would not allow teachers to participate in the exercise because the move will destabilise the academic calendar.

Payment of February Salaries To Be Delayed

The Controller and Accountant – General’s Department says payment of salaries for all Public Sector Workers who receive their salaries through the Government of Ghana Mechanized payroll would be delayed for a week. Minister calls for strict enforcement of road traffic laws to curb crashes

The Minister for Transport, Alhaji Collins Dauda, has said road traffic regulations would strictly be enforced in order to reduce carnage on our roads. Alhaji Collins Dauda attributed the many lives lost on our roads as a result of road crashes to laxity in enforcing road traffic regulations, adding “these lost ones are often bread winners in their family”.
