Bulldog Case Adjourned

Lawrence Nana Asiama Hanson aka Bull Dog
The trial of Lawrence Nana Asiama Hanson could not be heard by an Accra Magistrate Court yesterday due to the 32nd Anniversary Remembrance Service for the three Murdered High Court Justices.

The court where the case was to be heard was totally abandoned, as all judges as well as counsel for the accused person were attending the event.

The clerk at the court nonetheless had no option than to unceremoniously adjourn the case to July 18.

Lawrence Nana Asiama Hanson aka Bulldog, manager of Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale is standing trial for his alleged involvement in the death of Fennec Okyere who was the manager of controversial Hiplife artiste Kwaw Kese aka Abodam.

Bulldog, 36, who also doubled as the CEO of Bullhaus Entertainment, was picked up by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) recently in Kokomlemle, a suburb of Accra, as a prime suspect in Okyere’s death.

Bulldog’s plea has not been taken even though per the police charge sheet, he has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

It would be recalled that at the last adjourned date, the court presided over by Mavis Quainoo rejected a request form the prosecution seeking to order the accused person to provide the password to his mobile phone.

The trial judge had held that that could not happen because prosecution had not given any reason why they wanted his password.

Gary Nimako, counsel for Bulldog, disagreed, insisting that the behaviour of the prosecutor was tantamount to embarking on a ‘fishing expedition.’

He said his client’s phone had not been mentioned in the subject matter before the court, describing the attitude of the prosecutor as ‘witch-hunting’ rather than proper trial.

Counsel Nimako had argued that the charges levelled against his client could not hold because the prosecution had not been able to link his client to Fennec’s murder.

Meanwhile, an Accra High Court on May 27, granted Bulldog bail.
