A Boston mother is hoping to take her twin boys home soon after the two were born early and 24 days apart.

Lindalva da Silva was 24 weeks pregnant when she went into labour in early March. Her first son, Alexandre, was born weighing just one pound, 10 ounces, she told Good Morning America Tuesday.

But her second child, dubbed Baby B, was not ready to enter the world and stayed in his mother’s womb for another 24 days.

The doctors told da Silva, “Maybe you’ll deliver in an hour or a day or one week,” she said. “They said, ‘The longer he stays inside, the more he will grow.’”

Ronaldo was born at three pounds, three ounces.

Both babies have remained in hospital and now weigh more than six pounds each. Da Silva said she hopes to take her sons home around their June 18 due date.

“I can’t wait. I go to sleep thinking about them,” she said.
