Bola Ray’s Drive Time Wins Awards
Emperor Bola Ray’s Drive Time on Joy Fm, which is one of the most listened to drive-time programmes on radio, was last Friday adjudged the Radio Programme of the Year at the 24th Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana Marketing (CIMG) Awards held at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra.
Bola Ray, known in private life as Kwabena Anokye Adisi, who has hosted the drive time programme on Joy fm for the past 10 years, has built a reputation for himself as one of the country’s best radio presenters.
He is the CEO of Empire Entertainment, and has contributed a lot towards the building of a vibrant music industry in Ghana.
Currently, Bola Ray, who is still the host of the very popular Joy FM’s Drive Time, is an entertainment consultant and a business development manager.
Airing Monday to Friday, from 3:00pm to 8:00pm, Drive Time serves as a stress reliever which helps Accra city dwellers to cruise home after a hard day’s work.
The show’s interactivity with its listeners during the Drive Talk segment, which touches on critical social issues, is unparalleled.
Personality Profile, another segment on the show, is on Thursdays from 7:00pm to 8:00pm. That one hour interview with notable achievers, both home and abroad, does not only spice up the show but also inspires people to aim high.
With a unique blend of good music and dedicated team of producers, the show has become the toast of town and is listened to by all, including the high and mighty in society.
It is therefore no accident that Drive Time on Joy 99.7 is 2012 CIMG Radio Programme of the Year.
At the awards ceremony, Bola Ray proved that apart from being a radio presenter and ‘Drive Time’ host on Joy FM, he was also a good dancer. His moves were so infectious that he got others to also show their skills at the party.
As one man determined to change the entertainment industry in Ghana, Bola Ray joined Top Radio after Radio Universe, where he hosted ‘Top City Jam’, which was popular then. This was while he was a student at the University of Ghana.
In 2003, Bola, who many described as a brilliant and talented radio presenter, left Top Radio for Joy Fm, where he was still making a lot of impact.
Based on his outstanding achievements in the showbiz industry in Ghana, Bola Ray has received a number of awards which include Ghana’s Showbiz Personality of the year award at the City People Awards for Excellence held in Nigeria.
As part of his social responsibilities, Bola has embarked on a number of charity projects and also made some donations to a number of needy institutions in the country.
With a lot of achievements under his belt, one is tempted to think everything has been smooth sailing for him, but that is not the case.
