Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu says there are more serious issues to tackle at this point than to fight for a contract extension.

Konadu and his boss Kwesi Appiah were given a two-year contract by the Ghana Football Association to qualify the Black Stars to the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The two have been satisfactory at executing the job according to the president of the Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi.

The local media are advocating for their contracts to be extended before the World Cup but the federation is in no rush to that.

Konadu, who guided the local Black Stars to win silver at the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament, is not getting bogged down by the delays.

“We are not bothering ourselves with contract extension issues,” Konadu told Ghana’s leading football website GHANASoccernet.com

“At this point in time I know when my contract expires but am not losing sleep over that we have more serious issues to address.

“Some of which is to work towards building a formidable team that can make us all proud as Ghanaian during the World Cup.

“There have been some discussions but I will not like to go deep into them at this point it’s not the right time.”

Appiah and his technical team have won 10 times, lost seven and drawn three since taking charge in April 2012.
