Birmingham City miraculously escaped relegation from the English second-tier league on the final day of the season after they managed a 2-2 draw at Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

The Blues were set to be demoted to third-tier of English football but a Paul Caddis’s 93rd-minute equaliser saw them escape relegation to League One in dramatic style.

The Blues needed a draw at Bolton to stay up but looked doomed when they trailed 2-0 to goals by Lee Chung-yong and Lukas Jutkiewicz.

But Serbian international Nikola Zigic gave Lee Clark’s side hope when he pulled a goal back with a header with 12 minutes to go.

And a desperate finish saw Caddis force the ball home in stoppage time to send Doncaster down instead.

The survival comes a big news for Ghanaian teenager Koby Arthur as he would have the chances to fight for a place in the Birmingham City squad and advertise his quality in a more competitive league.

Arthur returned to Birmingham at the end of April after ending a month loan spell at Conference League side Lincoln City FC and watced anxiously from the screen as his side emotionally beat the drop in dramatic style.
