Big Twins Cultural Group Made Africa Proud In Europe
Ghanaian recognized cultural group, Big Twins, made Ghana/Africa proud in Europe last month at the 12th International Festival of Popular Art themed “The Wreath of Friendship” held from July, 2 to July 5, 2014 in the City of Bobruisk – as they picked several awards after exhibiting their great talent at the festival.
The group which was formed by twins in the name of, Alhassan Mohammed and Fuseini Mohammed, went to the festival with a 12 member band – including Assistant Director, Ghanaian actor, Emmanuel Armah.
In a chat with Alhassan Mohammed who’s the leader of the group, he said that they performed in ‘Belaru ‘ International Festival of Popular Art together with 18 different cultural groups from different countries – representing their continents.
He stated that, since it was an independence day of ‘Belarus,’ they had three different performances at different places – including (Manbrose City) , but the final one was at their stadium where they performed in front of over 70,000 people.
After their 3 different performances, they were finally awarded ‘Best Group.’ Talking about some of the songs they performed, he said “we performed and showcased African talent since we were the only African country present at the show together with songs and dances like: Bama, Gida, Kpanlogo, Kente, and Afro music.”
In a separate chat with Emmanuel Armah, he said that his major role on stage when they were performing was to do the introduction and also ending bit of the show which always caught audience attention and interest anytime they travel. He said that so far, they have performed in over 12 countries, including: Dubai, South Korea, Turkey, Mexico, and others.
