Ben Crane heads St Jude Classic field after third round

Crane was through just six holes on Saturday when play was suspended in Memphis, Tennessee, due to stormy weather, with the Oregon native at 13-under overall.

After birdying the seventh when play resumed on Sunday, Crane then bogeyed the 10th as his score remained unchanged.

Second-placed Troy Merritt climbed to 10 under with a birdie on the last, stepping up his bid for a first PGA Tour title.

Peter Malnati – a shot further back in third overnight – produced a par round that saw him drift back through the field.

The end of the third round and the beginning of the fourth were run simultaneously, with Brian Harman and Andrew Svoboda making the early gains.
