A man found dressed in military uniform and suspected to be a robber is being held by the police in Kumasi.
Kwame Asare, 25, was arrested by the highway patrol team at the outskirts of Anhwiankwanta on the Kumasi-Obuasi road at about 2030 hours on Thursday, June 5.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kofi Boakye, Ashanti Regional Commander told a media briefing that he was seized after he failed to show proof of being a service man.
He said a flashlight and cash of GH¢ 55.00 were found on him.
Lance Corporal Osei Assibey of the Fourth Battalion, who was with Asare but managed to flee in a taxi, is now being sought.
DCOP Boakye said they would contact the Military Command to help track down the soldier and get him to assist in police investigations.
He warned that the bad nuts in the security services to reform in their own interest or to have themselves to blame.
He said the police are resolved to work hard and with passion to provide the people with adequate security protection.
