A new diagnostic centre called the Integrated diagnostic Solutions Limited has begun operations in the populous Ashaiman municipality.
The centre is a subsidiary of New Crystal Health Services, and will assist medical practitioners in the municipality and its environs, to correctly identify and manage various diseases.
The inauguration of the ultra-modern centre coincided with a Valentine’s Day blood donation exercise organized in Ashaiman by New Crystal Health Services in collaboration with ace hip-life artiste, Okyeame Kwame popularly known as Rap Dacta.
The blood donation was held in response to reports of acute shortage of blood at the National Blood Bank.
Speaking at the inauguration, of the diagnostic centre, Chief Executive Officer of New Crystal Health Services, Dr. Wisdom Amegbletor said it was paramount for every person to know his or her health status through medical tests at diagnostic centres.
He also stressed the need for regular blood donation exercises as to flood the National Blood Bank with enough blood to support afflicted persons needing blood.
Dr. Amegbletor said the two went hand in hand and that explains why they decided to have the opening of the diagnostic centre and do blood donation on the same day.
Hip-life artiste, Okyeame Kwame who has a number of health related projects, said it was important for people to donate blood, so that the National Blood Bank will always have enough stock to give out to people who need it.
He said spending his Valentine to do blood donation was a great show of love and urged the public to pay attention to their health and learn to support people by participating in voluntary blood donation.
The Director of the Ashaiman Municipal Health Service, Dr. Esi Therson Coffie noted that healthcare delivery in Ashaiman could not be done by the public sector alone, hence the opening of the diagnostic centre will ensure that “a greater proportion of our hardworking population of Ashaiman have access to quality diagnostic tests at affordable rates”.
She said allied health services was an important and integral part of healthcare, explaining that detecting and diagnosing diseases more rapidly and at an earlier stage even before symptoms occur, was necessary and that was what a good diagnostic centre provides.
The Unit Director of the Integrated Diagnostic Centre, Dr. Carl Nii Lomotey Engmann noted that the cost of medical care was keeping many people away from accessing good medical care.
He said the diagnostic centre was therefore set up to meet the “need of providing consistent, reliable, trusted and affordable service on time to our valued clients”.
Dr. Engmann explained to Adom News that the y combine about 15 tests in one and give 25% off the price that customers would have paid in other organization for the 15 tests, adding that “most of our tests are dry cell tests so we are able to give between 5% to 8% further discounts on each test.”
He said the cost structure was specifically designed to suit the demographics of Ashaiman and its environs, and they have special packages for food vendors, pre-employment screening and corporate workers as well people who are 40 years and above.
