1ccf116860732 234835 All NPP Flagbearer Hopefuls Are Self centered & Fame Seekers Except….A member of the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has described potential NPP flagbearer hopefuls with the exception of Nana Akufo Addo as self-centered and fame grabbers.

Isaac Acheampong expressed these strong words when asked why he thinks some leading members want to contest Nana Akufo-Addo for the party’s flagbearership position despite in spite of the fact that it was recently conferred on him the most influential Ghanaian in 2013.

The NPP Presidential candidate in the 2008 and 2012 elections received the flagship award, 2013 Most Influential Personality under the auspices of e-TV Ghana, a privately-owned television station in Accra.

He was named recipient of the award mainly because of the position he took after the declaration of judgment on the election petition in 2013, pointing out that accepting decisions of the law has been his creed growing up.

Reacting to the flagship award of Nana Akufo-Addo, the NPP communicator averred on Okay Fm’s Ghana Decides program that the award should inform the leadership of NPP that majority of Ghanaians want Nana Addo has the next leader of the country.

Alluding to similar event, he hinted the death of President Mills created an opportunity for a lot of capable people to contest the presidency, but the leadership of NDC took a decision that corresponded with the interest of the majority of the party, hence making then Vice President Mahama the substantive leader of the party ahead of the 2012 elections.

“..the award given to Nana Addo was not fabricated but in reality he is the most influential person in Ghana. One can hit the streets and the various villages to find out who the most influential person is as we speak…..it is unfortunate that within NPP some people want to contest Nana Addo despite his influence in the country but it is a welcome news to contest due to democracy…I am beginning to get the impression that some presidential hopefuls want to amass fame out of politics because the truth of the matter is that everybody is rooting for Nana Addo but because of selfish interest in some of our leaders, they want to contest Nana Akufo-Addo…..we do politics to get the opportunity to serve and implement policies that meet the needs of Ghanaians…,” he asserted.
