Al Ahly To Release Players For Egypt Friendly Ahead Of Ghana Clash
Al Ahly have agreed to release their players to play for Egypt in Saturday’s friendly against Sierra Leone as the Pharaohs prepare for next month’s decisive World Cup playoff against Ghana.
There were doubts whether Ahly would release their 11 players in the Egypt squad to play in the Leone Star in the warm-up match most likely to be played in Freetown.
That is because Ahly will be playing Cameroon’s Coton Sport on 6 and 20 October in the CAF Champions League semifinal.
Ahly coach Mohamed Youssef met national manager Bob Bradley on Tuesday to discuss cooperation ahead of several decisive showdowns.
A deal has been reached for the Ahly players to play in the friendly match for Egypt as they prepare to face Ghana in the decisive match.
‘Ahly players will participate in the game,’ Pharaohs assistant coach Diaa El-Sayed confirmed to Ahram Sport on Tuesday.
‘After the Sierra Leone friendly, Ahly players will return to their club for their semifinal first leg and report back for national duty afterwards.
‘There are no complications between Egypt and Ahly coaches.
‘We hold a mutual understanding regarding each other’s needs.’
Ahly’s 11 players in the Egypt squad are goalkeeper Shefir Ekrami, defenders Wael Gomaa, Mohamed Nagib, Rami Rabia, Ahmed Fathi, Ahmed Shedid and Sayed Moawad, midfielders Hossam Ashour, Abdullah El-Said, Mohamed Abou-Treika, and Walid Soliman.
