Akufo-Addo Consoles Hon. Gladys Asmah

Like many Ghanaians, I have heard with shock and dismay the news of the sudden death of of Hon. Gladys Asmah and astute member of the great elephant family.

Mrs. Asmah’s father, Nana Asiebu Amenfi, who together with J.B. Danquah from the United Party (UP), were among a six-member advisory body put together by Governor Sir Arden Clarke for advise on national issues.

The ‘Iron Lady’, as she was called, was a colleague Member of Parliament and the first Minister of Women and Children’s Affairs under the able leadership of John Kufuor. She was also a Member of the Council of Elders of the NPP where she played a role in the Vetting Committee of the party

I shall forever remember her for her discipline, loyalty and activeness. The Ghanaian nation has lost a distinguished one.

My sincere condolences and sympathies go to her family for their loss.

May her soul rest in perfect peace.

Signed.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
