FOLLOWING her outstanding performance in the Ghanaian music industry, Ghana’s female dancehall artiste, AK Songstress, is gradually becoming a force to rekon with as far as dancehall music is concerned.
AK’s recent performance at the ‘Ghana Meets Naija’ concert attracted a standing ovation as the mesmerised crowd jumped to their feet and danced alongside her, especially when she began performing some of her popular songs.
The female dancehall artiste, who wants to go beyond the boarders of Ghana and Africa, has announced that she would be releasing an album with several collaborations with some selected African musicians which include Nigeria’s rising dancehall star, Patoranking.
Patoranking was in the country last week to work on a song titled ‘Rock Your Body’ with AK Songstress, which is being produced by Danny Beatz.
AK Songstress’ upcoming album would feature artistes on the continent, and Patoranking is just one of them. AK’s new song, ‘Rock Your Body’ is her sixth single which would be on her upcoming debut album. She has already recorded songs with a number of artistes and looking at doing more collaboration with African musicians.
AK’s musical prowess is comparable with that of international big stars like Sean Paul, Patra, Bennie Man and a host of others and a number of music fans as well as some big shots in the showbiz industry see her as one likely to become the Patra of Ghana.
According to some of the stakeholders in the music industry, AK Songstress’ gift and talent in both singing and dancing, her creative skills, stagecraft, dancing skills and style of performance would surely see her go far.
Her Manager, Duke Banson, told BEATWAVES in a chat that ‘I am bringing nothing but the best of music. I want to make sure she breaks boundaries. She is going to set a record in the Ghanaian music scene. What has kept her shinning on the Ghanaian music scene has been her untiring determination to reach the top.’
Currently signed on to Paradise Entertainment, AK Songstress has performed at many events including 4Syte Music Video Awards and ‘Ghana Meets Naija’ concert held last month.
Some of the songs she has previously released are ‘Di Empress’, ‘Party’, ‘The Pace Setter’ and ‘Funky Fresh’.
