Airtel Ghana Launches Revamped Airtel Money Market
Airtel Ghana has announced the re-launch of its online Airtel Money trade portal, www.airtelmoneymarket.com http://www.airtelmoneymarket.com . This remains one of the platforms where Ghanaians can use Airtel Money online to purchase various digital content such as music, videos and Amazon e-books.
The Director for Special Projects at Airtel Ghana, Mr. Francis Amediku, said in a release that ‘our continual focus is to give our customers a world class and innovative mobile experience. Ghana is the first country in Africa to integrate this kind of functionality.
‘With Airtel Money Market, we have created an environment for Ghana by enabling fuss-free use of Airtel Money.’
With the revamped portal, Airtel Money wallet holders can now pay for digital content, goods and services online through integration with Payapp by Rancard. To experience this today, Airtel Money Wallet users can visit Airtel Money Market.
This implementation allows users to securely purchase their digital goods without needing to worry about security as they get a one-step verification process on their mobile phones before each transaction.
Mr. Amediku said that ‘with the new levels of payment security, not to mention the thousands of digital content items from singers like EL, Cwesi Oteng, videos from MobileFliks and also e books from Amazon.
Airtel Money payments will be one of the most important innovations for the mobile and digital space in Ghana. We’ve worked hard to provide our Airtel Money users a safe environment for them to shop in.
This also bodes well for our local content partners; Airtel is actively building the local entertainment industry by offering a new way for Ghanaian artists to monetize their content.
He added that the fact that Airtel Money has gone online is a strategic beacon to the market. ‘We have now successfully provided third party merchants a convenient and versatile mobile wallet solution via integration of Rancard’s PayApp API. We look forward to implementing this across more Ghanaian portals soon.’
Ehizogie Binitie, Chief Technology Officer of Rancard said Rancard continues to develop technology that is changing how partner MNOs serve their subscribers. ‘We’ve built our PayApp technology to provide a simple, integrated and secure method of payment using Airtel Money. This is still a first on the African continent and we’re very proud of it.’
