Abrantie, Femi Steal Show @ Kasapreko Africa Legends Night
Abrantie Amakye Dede’s performance at the Africa Legends Night concert held at the Banquet Hall of the State House in Accra last Saturday will be remembered as the best put up by any artiste this year.
The event, which was organized by Kasapreko Company Limited, attracted thousands of music fans from all walks of life who turned up to reunite with old pals and reminisce about ‘the good old days’.
The night also witnessed historic performances from George Darko, Ofie Kodjoe and Nigerian super star Femi Kuti.
Music fans were moved by the extraordinary performance of Abrantie, who set the venue on fire when he took over from George Darko of Akoo Te Brofo fame with his stagecraft and unique style of delivery.
Amakye Dede, also known as ‘Serious Man’, was at his best. He sent fans into a frenzy when he performed some of his chart toppers.
A number of music fans who could not recognize him until he was introduced started screaming, calling him ‘Abrantie the serious man’.
He threw all his skills onto the stage as he performed before business tycoons, music fans as well as people from all walks of life.
Known for delivering mid- tempo http://www.ghanamusic.com/2007/07/12/stars-of-the-futuresandra-out-two-more-to-go/ songs, Abrantie challenged himself at the show when he dished out most of his popular hit-songs.
During his time on stage, Abrantie kept contact with his lively audience and kept the flame in the hall alive as he delivered most of his danceable songs. He had the ladies virtually eating out of his hand as his melodious tunes brought joy to the most saddened heart.
The night was indeed one that will be remembered for a very long time to come.
Backed by his own bandsmen, Amakye Dede’s performance was without doubt the most thrilling when compared to others.
Femi Kuti, who also performed creditably, sent the excited music fans into a frenzy when he took the stage as the last artiste to perform and treated fans to a memorable performance.
At one point, it became a dance session, with everyone dancing to the tunes. Femi was consistent, dynamic on stage and was able to thrill music fans to their satisfaction. His attitude on stage was exceptionally good.
George Darko also performed some of his popular hit songs to the delight of everybody present. He won the hearts of the audience with his exquisite stagecraft and singing ability, to the extent that some were not happy when his time was up.
Ofie Kodjoe’s performance was all that was needed to make a statement about the quality of her songs.
