6th Breakfast With Papa Held
The sixth edition of the Breakfast with Paapa [BWP] has taken place at the Cahaya Lounge at East Legon in Accra, with a call on Ghanaian tertiary institutions to include the subject of branding in their teaching curriculum.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Samuel Amarnor of the Cahaya Lounge said its time Ghanaians’ become creative, innovative, colorful and to improve and push beyond the status quo so as to be unique in whatever they do.
He bemoaned the situation whereby no one in Ghana has stepped forward or mustered the courage to promote the art of branding in the country. He therefore proposed for the tertiary institutions especially the Polytechnics’ to add as part of their teaching curriculum the study of branding.
This he was of the view would generate and inculcate in the students and the youth of Ghana in particular the love for branding as an essential aspect of life.
Mr. Sam as he is affectionately called tasked Ghanaian entrepreneurs and businesses to step up their bids in ensuring proper branding to their businesses. This, he added will leave a unique impression of their identification to their clients and the corporate world at large.
He also urged parents to play key roles in branding the future of their children. ”Parents he said have significant roles to play in deciding the future of their children who are the future leaders of this beloved country of ours”.
He mentioned corporate bodies such as Coca Cola, MTN, and Zoom Lion amongst others as some companies that have branded themselves very well and have therefore succeeded in leaving lasting impressions on the minds of people about their products and services.
On her part, Madam Adiza Braimah Annan, a Life Style Strategist, was of the view that the time has come for branding to be the number aspect in a person’s life.
Madam Adiza Brimah, challenged Ghanaians to join any branding group in the country in order for them to define themselves so as to be presentable to the outside world.
She however, admitted certain challenges that bedevil the branding industry in Ghana. She mentioned lack of good stores for one to make good and better shopping and lack of knowledge on the part of fashion designers on the proper things to purchase as some of the troubles facing the industry.
Mr. Papa Arkhurst, the BWP Chief Executive Officer [CEO], explained that the show was created as a platform for the people to promote and showcase themselves and their businesses and to also find lasting solutions to certain challenges troubling the people and their businesses.
Another aim of the BWP, Mr. Arkhurst disclosed is to see better, quality and core Ghanaian corporate bodies determined and committed to solving their own challenges and to impact positively on the people.
Mr. Arkhurst who doubles as the Head of IT Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration-Ghana ,admitted that a great challenge to the platform is sponsorship which he added they have started talking to some corporate bodies to come on board to sponsor the event.
