5 Foreigners Arrested In Connection With Foiled Attack In Owerri Church

Imo police has reportedly arrested 6 suspects (five foreigners and one Nigerian) in connection with the explosion foiled in the church of the state capital Owerri June 15.

State police spokesperson Andrew Enwerem made this known to Leadership adding however that the details about the 5 suspects’ nationality would not be made public.

It would be recalled that in a statement issued on the fateful day Frank Mba urged Nigerians not to make early conclusions linking the act with the dreaded Boko Haram sect.

It has been learnt that Imo residents, who are usually eager football viewers, have started avoiding public spots and crowded areas in fear for their lives.

Moreover, some northerners, trading with the most deserted areas as the Onitsha/Owerri road and the ever busy Mbaise road, were said to have fled after the explosion incident, probably in anticipation of a backlash by locals.
