4th Ghana Policy Fair Ends
The 4th Ghana Policy Fair has been closed with an appeal on the organizers to evaluate effectively the Fair and assess its impacts on the people.
The three day event held under the Theme: Partnership and Innovation for Development’’ brought together both public and private institutions to show case their programs and activities as well as respond to questions from participants.
Closing the ceremony, Ghana’s Chief of Staff, hon. Prosper Douglas Kweku Biney described the well attended program as a clear demonstration of the people’s commitment to participate in the decision making of the country and to also hold the Government responsible.
He added that the 2013 Policy Fair organized by the Ministry of Information and Media Relations has lived up to its expectations for providing information on developmental issues ad challenges bedeviling the nation.
He pointed out that the trends of event during the Fair gives them hope as Government and people of the country and was convinced Government will continue to partner private organizations to ultimately provide better services to the people.
Hon. Prosper Biney disclosed that the National Democratic Congress [NDC] Government is set to provide mechanisms aimed at ensuring citizen based participation in governance.
To this end he announced that President John Dramani Mahama has set up a Citizen Unit at the Presidency charged with the tasks of receiving and providing solutions to the complaints of the general public so as to ensure that inputs and outputs of the people are achieved.
For Governance to flourish in Ghana, those in authority need to provide limitless spaces for citizens’ participation in the decision making process adding that Government will open up to involve organizations ready to partner it to ensure governance at the grass roots level.
He commended the Ministry of Information and Media Relations for successfully hosting the event and further added his voice to the call for the Fair to be extended to the regional, Metropolitan, Municipal and District levels within the country so as to those in these areas to benefit from the Fair.
He also commended participants from the Ministries, Department and Agencies as well as the private sector for participating with special thanks to the Upper West Region, the only Region to send a delegation to the Forum headed by the Regional Minister for making this year’s fair a successful and memorable one.
The 4th Ghana Policy Fair which also brought together participants from Government, the Diplomatic Corps, Traditional Rulers, Religious Bodies, Service personnel, the Media amongst others was officially opened by President John Dramani Mahama.
