TWO WOMEN died on the spot and a boy is said to be battling for his life following a fatal accident which occurred at Teye-Kwame, a suburb of Akuse in the Eastern Region, on Saturday.

The identities of the deceased women have not been released but the police said the injured boy is about 15 years old.

Corpses of the women have been deposited at the Akuse Government Hospital pending autopsy.

Confirming the accident to the DAILY GUIDE, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Francis Ackah, Commander of the Akuse District Police, said that on April 15, 2017 at about 3.30 pm, the driver of a Hyundai truck with registration number GN 1417-11, was coming from Accra to Dambai whilst that of a Kia Sportage registered GR 9809-16, was coming from Kpong direction towards Tema with two persons on board.

According to him, on reaching Teye-Kwame near Akuse Junction, the Kia driver attempted to overtake a vehicle and in the process, collided with the Hyundai truck.

The Kia driver, he stated, died on the spot together with one female on board.

A boy, who was on board that vehicle, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Akuse Government Hospital where he was admitted and responding to treatment, ASP Ackah said.

The commander continued that the driver of the Hyundai truck, who had chest pains, is also on admission at the same health facility and is responding to treatment.
