THE ASANTEHENE, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has admonished all feuding factions across the globe, to in the name of love, bury the hatchet, unite and work closely together to transform society.

Using the Asante Kingdom and the United Kingdom (UK) as a case study, he recounted that the two powerful kingdoms had a hostile past but they have managed to forget their past and worked closely together.

The Asante Monarch therefore entreated all feuding factions in the world to take motivation from the Asante Kingdom and the United Kingdom example by also adopting peace, unity and oneness ahead of antagonism.

Otumfuo was speaking during a colourful durbar of chiefs and people of Asante, which was held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to welcome Princess Anne, daughter of the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth, on Wednesday.

The Asante Monarch expressed gross worry about wars in some parts of the world which results into poverty, diseases and hunger, stressing that all hands are needed to work and make the world a better place.

Otumfuo recounted that several positive results have been achieved through the cordial relationship which exists between the Asante Kingdom and the United Kingdom, which is based on peace, friendship and mutual respect.

The Asantehene lauded Princess Anne for her charitable works across the globe, including Ghana, urging her to sustain her exemplary works so that more people would benefit from her brilliant works.

Princess Anne, in a speech read on her behalf by Jon Benjamin, the British High Commissioner to Ghana; expressed joy over the cordial relationship that exists between the Asante Kingdom and the United Kingdom.

She said the United Kingdom and Ghana had also lived in peace and worked closely together ever since Ghana attained its independence 60 years ago, adding that the development had resulted into positive growth for both countries.

Princess Anne also showered praises on the Asantehene over his key roles in the transformation of Ghana, expressing hope that Ghana and the United Kingdom would continue to work together to their mutual benefit.

She said she was in the country to identify, work on and promote opportunities that would help Ghana and the United Kingdom to continue to live in peace and develop for the benefit of the people of both countries.

Princess Anne, who later on visited the Wesley College of Education for a charity programme, on behalf of her mother, consoled Otumfuo over the death of her mother and also congratulated the newly enstooled Asantehemaa.

The colourful durbar, held in the gardens of Manhyia Palace, was graced by Simon Osei Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister, Osei Assibey Antwi, Kumasi Mayor, Ing Nana Poku Agyeman, Kumasi Urban Roads Director, among others.
