Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has stated that he was right by referring to ex-President John Dramani Mahama as an incompetent person during the 2016 electioneering period.

Dr Bawumia said the positive impact that just a fraction of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government’s policies and programmes has made in the lives of Ghanaians so far clearly buttresses his claim that the ex-Ghanaian leader was indeed incompetent.

The vice president observed that in just three months in political office, the NPP administration has been able to introduce proper policies that have bettered the living conditions of the majority of Ghanaians.

He said the government has restored the teacher and nursing trainee allowances, taxes on spare parts had been removed, VAT  on domestic airlines had been quashed, financial services VAT taken away and Kayayei levy removed, just to mention but a few.

Jabs NDC

The vice president wondered why the NPP has been able to make strong impact in the lives of the people with its policies in less than 100 days in office, but the NDC, with a lot of funds at its disposal, could not do anything to help the people in eight years.

Incompetence Tag

“You can now see clearly the difference between competence and incompetence that I talked about during the campaign period,” Dr. Bawumia said, whilst addressing NPP victory rally at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi, yesterday.

He said the NDC government had huge gold and oil revenue at its disposal but because of incompetence, it was not able to introduce programmes that would have positive impact in the lives of the citizenry.

Dr. Bawumia said the NDC government was not able to pay teacher and nursing trainee allowances, monies due contractors were not paid, school feeding programme and all other social intervention programmes were about to collapse due to the lack of visionary leadership.

He stated that extreme hardship was the order of the day when the NDC was in power, noting that the unpleasant trend would be reversed soon by the NPP government, led by Nana Akufo-Addo.

According to him, what the NPP, under Nana Akufo-Addo, has achieved in less than 100 days, indicates that all the adjectives that he used to criticize the NDC administration, including Mr. Mahama as an incompetent person, were appropriate.

Jobs Coming

Dr. Bawumia was of the view that Ghanaians have not seen anything yet, saying that what the NPP government had achieved within just 90 days, which had gladden the hearts of the masses, is just a tip of the iceberg.

According to him, the weak economy which the NPP inherited from the NDC would see significant positive growth when the NPP eventually rolls out its major campaign promises so Ghanaians should watch out.

The vice president hinted that free education policy, zongo development fund and all the other promises that the NPP made during the campaign would soon see the light of day to improve the living conditions of the people.

He said the NPP government is yet to hit the road, saying that government would soon introduce a lot of programmes that would lead to a booming economy whereby the private sector would be a force to reckon with.

Dr. Bawumia indicated that the NPP government’s policies would result in provision of jobs for the energetic youth, who roamed about the streets without doing anything during the NDC era.
