The much awaited report by the five-member ad hoc committee probing the bribery scandal that hit the Appointments Committee of Parliament has been laid before the House, awaiting debate.
The 50-page report was presented before the House in a form of motion, meaning its content would be debated by Members of Parliament (MPs).
The speaker of parliament on January 31 constituted the five-member committee chaired by Joe Ghartey, a former Attorney General, to probe the bribery scandal that rocked the Joe Osei Owusu-led Vetting Committee.
This followed claim by Mahama Ayariga, a member of the committee, that Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko (then being vetted) tried luring the minority members of the committee with GH¢3,000 each through the chairman of the vetting committee Mr. Osei-Owusu – and the minority chief whip, Muntaka Mubarak, so he (Agyarko) could be recommended for approval.
Debate on the report has been deferred to tomorrow, March 30.
