Interim Black Stars head coach Maxwell Konadu has played down reports linking him with a return to Asante Kotoko.

Shocking reports emerged on Monday that Konadu, who enjoyed a successful spell at the Kumasi-based club, was on the verge of signing for the club as he had been contacted by Board chairman, Dr. Kwame Kyei.

Croatian trainer Zdravko Lugarusic’s departure to his native country on leave had further fueled those speculations, but Konadu has flatly denied the reports as false.

”These are some of the things they do in preventing former coaches and playing body from going near the club,” he told Kumasi-based Fox FM

If you try to step a foot at their training grounds, people will start reading a whole lot of meaning to it.

”I just paid them a visit at their training grounds here in Accra and so I don’t see the rationale behind peddling rumours on me taking up the coaching job.

“So please ignore the reports as it needs no attention for there’s no iota of truth in it,” he urged.

Konadu was appointed as assistant coach of Kotoko the club where he first gained fame as a prolific goal scorer. He however signed on as head coach following the sacking of Serbian coach Bogdan Korak on 3rd May 2012

He resigned after guiding the club to their 22nd league title and securing qualification to the CAF champions league in 2013.
