Ghana is making yet another effort to break a Guinness World Record (GWR), as popular seasoning brand, Onga, will attempt to set the ‘Longest Feast Table’, and this quest has been formally endorsed by the GWR as an ‘Official Attempt’.
Currently, the ‘Longest Feast Table’ record is held by Afia International in Saudi Arabia after it set up a feast table of 1,508 metres.
The last time Ghana broke a similar GWR was in October 2015 when BBnZ cooked 3.02 tonnes of rice in one large pot in what officially became known as the world’s biggest pot of rice.
Promasidor Ghana Limited, manufacturers of Onga, the brand of delicious seasoning powders and tablets, has announced that on Saturday, March 25, it would break and set a new ‘Longest Feast Table’ world record.
The event which will be held at the Independence Square to celebrate the company’s 10 years of providing quality and tasty meals in homes will attempt to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the ‘Longest Table’ measuring 1,508m (4.947 ft 5.96 in) to 1,900m.
It will be attended by 3,000 specially invited Ghanaians, including hundreds of children from different orphanages who will be fed and given freebies.
Officials say the event will offer Onga an opportunity to give back to society. It will showcase the rich Ghanaian food culture through the exhibition of staple food from the 10 regions of the country.
The Onga brand was launched in Ghana in the year 2004 with an introduction of 5 distinct powdered flavours, namely Onga Stew, Onga Shrimp, Onga Chicken, Onga Classic and Onga 3-mix.
In 2011, Onga again introduced a new product, the Onga Tablet, that revolutionised the culinary space. The brand has also rolled out countless corporate social responsibility activities as a way of reassuring the Ghanaian communities of its commitment to support development.
