#GhElections: Shama incumbent satisfied with process despite hitches

The incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Shama in the Central Region, Gabriel Essilfie, has expressed some degree of satisfaction with the electoral process.

He, however, noted he was compelled to intervene to calm tensions at, Abuesi, a town in the constituency.

Mr. Essilfle recounted that some persons were being rowdy at a polling station in the town and when he then notified the District Chief Executive (DCE) and the District task force who calmed the tension.

But an hour later, the tensions were rekindled and the police were forced to call in some military personnel as reinforcements.

Aside the tensions in Abuesi, Mr. Essilfle said in “all the polling stations that I visited, the numbers that turned up so far are quite encouraging.”

“Everything is under control; I have run a good campaign. I am very confident that the people of the Shama constituency will renew my mandate and that I am going to renew my mandate with a much higher gap than in the past,” he added.

Mr Ato Panford, of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presents the main opposition to Mr. Essilfile in Shama.
