Man High On Drugs ‘Saves’ Dog From Imaginary Fire

An American man who was high on LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) broke into his neighbour’s home to save their dog from what he thought was a burning home, police say.

43-year-old Michael Orchard, who had consumed LSD and cough medicine, thought his neighbour’s home in Saratoga County, New York was being consumed by flames last Thursday.

He went around his neighbourhood banging on doors and yelling about a fire it was reported. When no one would help, he drove his black BMW sedan through his neighbour’s fence, went to the back door and smashed through it to retrieve the dog.

He eventually emerged triumphantly with the large white dog, and responding officers found him standing outside the home with the dog in his arms.

He believed that the residence was on fire and he was rescuing the dog,” said a police spokesman.

LSD is a psychedelic drug known for its psychological effects which may include: altered awareness of the surroundings, perceptions, as well as sensations and images that seem real though they are not.

Orchard was arrested on charges of burglary and criminal mischief. He was jailed on $15,000 bail.
