Ghana’s national beach soccer team, the Black Sharks is expected to know their 2016 African Cup of Nations tournament (AFCON) group opponents on Saturday September 24

Accra, Sept. 22, GNA – Ghana’s national
beach soccer team, the Black Sharks is expected to know their 2016 African Cup
of Nations tournament (AFCON) group opponents on Saturday September 24.

The draw for the 2nd edition of the Beach
soccer Afcon to be held in Nigeria will take place at the Confederation of
African Football (CAF) Headquarters in the Egyptian capital, Cairo at 14:00
GMT.

The Black Sharks qualified to the finals for
the second successive time after humiliating Kenya 17-4 on aggregates over two
legs.

Other qualified teams for the draw are host
country Nigeria, Cote D’Ivoire, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, last year’s finalist
Senegal and defending champions Madagascar. They teams will be divided into two
groups.

The final tournament is billed to commence
this year from December 13 – 18 in Lagos. The two teams that qualify to the
finals of the tournament will represent the continent at the world stage in the
2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Bahamas.

Ghana placed seventh in its debut appearance
in the 2015 Afcon in Seychelles with forward Alexander Adjei emerging as the
top scorer with 16 goals in five matches.
