– Medeama SC Midfielder Kwesi Donsu’s fantastic goal in the 82nd minute was all
the yellow and mauve side, needed to beat Accra Hearts of Oak 1-0 in match day
29 of the Ghana Premier League.
The Phobians playing
home were disappointed and the fans after the game were seen booing at the
Strategy Committee Chairman Vincent Odotei Sowah for the poor display at the
Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
Hearts went into the
game, with the aim of grabbing the maximum points to contend for the league
title, whilst Medeama on the other hand were in for all spoils to battle for a
top four position.
With a match to end
the league, both teams marched to pitch with the ambition of securing the
points but it was the Phobians who made their intentions known in the 39th
minute but Inusah Musah’s effort to hand his side the lead was saved by
Medeama’s goalie Daniel Agyei.
With a minute to end
the first half, Foovi Aguidi was presented with a brilliant opportunity to
register his name in the score sheet but his effort was wasted.
From recess, the
homers started pilling pressure on the visitors but Aguidi and Razak Patrick
failed to utilized golden opportunities that came begging.
With two minutes to
end proceedings, it was Medeama’s Donsu who saved the day for his side with a
long strike outside the 18 yard box.
The Phobians now
occupies the fourth spot with 45 points and will travel to Obuasi to engage New
Edubiase who are facing relegation whilst Medeama welcomes Ashantigold Gold at
the Tarkwa T&A Park.
