The current state of the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex

President John Mahama has promised to refurbish the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex if he wins a second term after the December 7 elections.

According to the President, there are plans to refurbish the Azumah Nelson Sports complex in Accra, which has been deteriorating for many years.

“We will refurbish the Azumah Nelson Sports complex, formerly Kaneshie Sports Complex. In addition, we will build five new stadia at the Upper East, Upper West, Brong Ahafo, Volta and the Eastern regions,” Mahama stated.

Formerly known as the Kaneshie Sports Complex, the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex was built in the 1970s to contribute to the production of sportsmen and women for the country.

It is a multi-sports facility that can host a wide range of indoor disciplines and government is set to commit over GH¢1 million for the renovation.
