Half-Assini (WR), Sept. 12, GNA – The
National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) is organizing a workshop for
political parties and youth activists as part of efforts to ensure that the
coming elections are conducted peacefully.
The two weeks programme supported by
European Union (EU) began on August 29th and it is slated to end on September

youth to stand up for Ghana for Peaceful Election 2016”.

from the Commission’s and made available to the GNA at Half-Assini.
The statement said the programme is being
organize in 40 selected districts in the country and it is targeted at

The workshop seeks to sensitize political
party activists on their roles towards ensuring peaceful election in December,
engage them to identify their concerns and solicit their commitment towards a
The workshop is also to increase the
participation the youth in the democratic and electoral processes, reduce
incidence of electoral fraud and violence.
The statement said youth activists are
perceived to be the main perpetrators of electoral violence mostly acting out
ignorance of the various regulations governing the conduct of elections.
It said the youth needed to be equipped with
the basic knowledge and skills on non-violence to enable them participate
effectively in the electoral process, hence the workshop.
