Kumasi, Sept 02, GNA – The Kumasi
Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has announced the start of a special exercise to
remove all unauthorized billboards and posters in the metropolis.
A statement issued by the assembly and
signed by Mr. Godwin Okumah Nyame, the Public Relations Officer (PRO), a copy
of which was made available the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Kumasi, said this
was to restore sanity to the city.
It expressed disgust at the impudence with
which some individuals, organizations and institutions had taken the law into
their own hands and refusing to pay regard to due process in the erection of
billboards and banners.
“The nuisance is very visible at the major
roundabouts and streets” the statement added.
It indicated that the assembly’s bye-laws
enjoined advertisers to obtain permit from the KMA before erecting billboards,
posters and banners.
It called on everybody to be law-abiding in
their activities to stop the mess and keep Kumasi clean.
