The National Democratic Congress executives in the Tamale South Constituency of the Northern region have said all is set for the constituency campaign launch today, Saturday, 3 September, 2016.
The event will be used to signal the party’s readiness for the upcoming elections and to present the parliamentary candidate, Haruna Iddrisu to the electorate.
Mr Iddrisu, who is seeking a third bid on the ticket of the NDC, is expected to justify why his constituents should retain him in the upcoming polls.
He is also expected to use the event to outline his achievements and what he intends to do, especially to the rising case of youth unemployment in the constituency.
The campaign launched themed “Operation 700,000 Votes for Haruna Iddrisu and President Mahama”, aims at garnering more votes for both President Mahama and Mr. Iddrisu after having contributed about 53,000 votes to the success of the NDC in the 2012 elections.
The constituency communication officer Abdul Ganiu Sandow told Starr News “we are poised for action; we are very much prepared for today’s campaign launch for Hon. Haruna Iddrisu. We had a cleanup exercise this morning at the Bilpela clinic. There shall be football banter this evening.
“All and sundry are expected to converge at the party office where we shall match through some streets. The MP is expected to distribute some exercise books where we will later match to the Vitting Senior School at 2pm for the official launch.”
Party stalwarts including Mr. Benjamin Kumbour, Kofi Adams, Siidi Abubakari, Mr. Omane Boamah and host of others are expected to grace the occasion.
Starr News earlier gathered that party executives in the region had directed the constituency executives to postpone the launch until the launch of the regional campaign taskforce.
The constituency communication officer denied knowledge of such directives saying they were yet to receive correspondence after having written to the regional executives weeks ago.
