KMA PM election unlawful – Minister

Ashanti regional minister Alex Ackon

The Ashanti regional Minister, Alexander Ackon has described the election of a Presiding member for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Abraham Boadi, as unlawful.

The KMA has been without a presiding member for a long while after three elections failed to produce one. The assembly however elected one last week.

But the regional minister, who is also serving as the PM, has rubbished the election describing it as inappropriate.

“KMA comprises of the technocrats and the assembly members, and the assembly members are the totality of the assembly; more than hundred who are called KMA. So nobody has been elected until we go to the assembly and get an election.

“The compromise candidate should not be a one side compromise…it should be all, so I don’t know of it,” he told Starr News.
