Chief urged political parties to accept Election 2016 results

Aug. 30, GNA – Gomoaba Apata Kofi V, Gyantuahene of Gomoa Ajumako has advised
political parties contesting the 2016 Presidential and Parliamentary elections
to accept the results to help move the country forward.

Gomoaba Kofi, Chief
of Gomoa Pomadze near, Winneba-Junction said Ghanaians expects to have clean
and credible election results devoid of litigation and violence to promote
peace and stability.

He said this when he
addressed the chiefs and the people of Gomoa Pomadze to mark this year’s Annual
Yam festival celebration.

Gomoaba Kofi noted
that elections are a game of chance and so automatically one will win and other
would lose and this should not bring war as it had had happened in some
neighbouring countries.

The Gyantuahene
asserted that conflict after elections does not augur well for the nation’s
developmental policies and programmes.

He therefore advised
the leaders and supporters to accept the results in good faith, adding that
Ghana must be ruled by people with integrity and honesty to restore her image
both at home and international.

The Gyantuahene
asked the youth of political parties not allow themselves to be induced with
money to create violence during and after the elections.

On the Celebration
of the yam festival, Gomoaba Kofi said it was the period to feed the black
stool and asked for good health, long life and richness in the years ahead.

He expressed regret
that some misunderstanding nearly marred the festival but for the timely
intervention of the Police Patrol team from Winneba, who came in to restore law
and order.

He cautioned the
youth not to take the law into their hands, adding that every citizen must be
law abiding to ensure peace and stability.

The Gyantuahene
called for co-operation and mutual understanding among residents of Pomadze and
unite as one people and one family to help build the town to make it a better
place to live.
