Africans can be very creative when it comes to fashion.
It’s as though when an imaginary whistle is blown, you find us at it again. The need to raise the bar a notch further.
I’ve seen us make outfits out of plastic Ghana-must-go bags, carve out food warmers from bamboo sticks, and the most recent I spotted, was menswear made out of the plastic mats, yes the ones we sit on:
My mum still uses them till date, in fact, an African or rather a northern Nigerian home is incomplete without one. With its thick plastic nature made for durability, I wonder how this fashion designer managed to sew through it.
P.S how did the model get by in it without having to shove his friends aside? It’s not a flexible material if you ask me. I guess he’s all about making a fashion statement. Would you be inspired enough to wear this downtown, uptown, any town?
