Dome Sampaman (GAR),
Aug. 28, GNA – Nii Okai Laryea, the Member of Parliament for Amasaman, has
promised to build a kindergarten and a primary school for the people of Dome
The gesture is to
save the over 200 children from Dome Sampaman, a community near Amasaman in the
Greater Accra Region, from travelling to Adjen Kotoku, Kwashiekumah and Dobro
Gonno to attend school.
He said the schools,
when completed, would also contribute to effective teaching and learning.
Nii Laryea gave the
assurance during the celebration of the Homowo Festival of the chiefs and
people of Sampaman in the Ga West District.
Homowo, which means
hooting at hunger, is celebrated by the Ga-Dangmes in the Greater Accra Region.
It is characterised by the sprinkling of Kpokpoi and palmnut soup to signify
their gratitude to the gods for blessing them with bumper harvest.
Nii Laryea promised
to re-gravel the 10 kilometre feeder road from Abenase to Sampaman and use his
MP’s Common Fund to sponsor the projects.
He commended Nii
Kojo Sampa VI, the Chief of Sampaman, for offering land for the school project
and called on other chiefs to emulate his example to bring about development in

contributions from community leaders encouraged governments to provide
assistance to better the lots of the people.
Nii Sampa pledged to
provide 20 bags of cement while Nii Amartey, the Youth Leader of the town,
promised GH¢10,000 towards the school project.
Nii Sampa appealed
to the Amasaman Municipal Assembly, philanthropists and non-governmental
organisations to support the project.
Nii Amartey gave the
assurance that the youth are ready to provide communal labour and called on
citizens at home and abroad to contribute either cash or in kind towards
