Back in the day, curvy girls were advised to stick to black bikinis.
Fast forward to 2016, there are now terms such as fatkini and curvykini which are swimsuits designed to flatter curvy women.
Don’t be the kind of plus sized woman that’s too afraid to show her curves at the beach for the fear of ‘what people will think’ embrace your body, love your curves…confidence is sexy.
That said, here are tips for shopping for an appropriate swimsuit to flatter your body type:
1. Go for swim suits that slim the mid section of your body
Swim suits can be rather revealing and you definitely want to create the illusion of a smaller figure. Go for color blocked swim suits and those with geometrical patterns at the waist as they tend to give the illusion of a smaller figure.
2. Fringe & frill details are your friend
A swimsuit with fringe or frill details at the top will hide what you don’t want to show. *wink*
3. Yes you can totally rock a one piece
Go for a swimsuit that offers maximum chest support; preferably one that has an under wire and a halter neck.
4. If you don’t want to reveal too much…
then a swim dress is your to go to bikini!
5. Go for a high waisted two piece bikini
Instead of the normal 2 piece bikini, go for a high-waisted option to cinch the waist. Do not be afraid of going for bold patterns, prints and color!
6. Invest in bikini cover ups
Definitely feel free to throw on a bikini cover up such as sheer long blouse or a long kimono as a bikini cover up.
