A giant mahogany tree has caused considerable damage to property on Legon Campus, University of Ghana. About 90 minutes ago, the mahogany tree fell in front of the Legon Hall, blocking the main road and smashing a four-wheel drive car in the process.
According to an eyewitness, the tree fell as a result of a pipe that has been leaking copious amounts of water under it, adding that the tree was vulnerable to falling off since it hadn’t been pruned for decades.
The owner of the car is said to be a worker at the Finance unit of the university. University security are at the scene to ensure law and order and direct traffic appropriately.
No one has been hurt.
