The wife of the running mate of the New Patriotic Party, Mrs. Samira Bawumia, is urging the Ghanaian electorate to teach the governing National Democratic Congress a bitter lesson in the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections.
According to her, the NDC government has taken Ghanaians for granted through its insensitive and incompetent policies which have brought hardship to majority of the citizenry in the last eight years.
Addressing members of the Zongo community in the Volta regional, Ho on Thursday, Mrs. Bawumia said: “Everyone is suffering; both the rich and the poor people are suffering. The only people who are not suffering are the NDC people who are in government enjoying Ghanaians money and taking us for granted.”
“This, we need to change by teaching them (NDC) a lesson on December 7. Ghanaians want a government who will work for them and not us serving the government.”
Mrs. Bawumia, who is on a three-day tour of Zongo communities in the southern and middle parts of the Volta region since Tuesday, soliciting votes for the NPP, urged Ghanaians to elect, Nana Akufo-Addo and her husband Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the forthcoming elections for them to deliver real socio-economic transformation to the Ghanaians.
“The NPP has done it before; we introduced the National Health Insurance and MASLOC [Micro and small loans] schemes, which the NDC is touting about today. Though at the time, John Mahama and NDC in parliament walked out during the passage of the health insurance.”
She also admonished Ghanaians to consider their future when casting the ballot for a president on December 7, stressing that “this election is very serious, it is about the future. It is not about the height of somebody.
“It is about someone who has the development of this country at heart and wants to expand this economy to create jobs. That’s what Nana Addo and my husband want to do for this country.”
“We want to be able to feed our families and not to depend on Ghc10 and a cup of rice from a politician only in election period,” she added.
Mrs. Bawumia was accompanied on the visit by regional executives of the NPP including the Secretary, Joseph Homenya and Women organizer, Madam Akusika Ocansey.
Some of the constituencies visited throughout the three-day campaign tour include, South Tongu, Akatsi South, Agortime-Ziope, Ho, Adaklu, among others.
