As reported by The Daily Nation Kenya Airways has entered the city bus business to diversify earnings.
The report indicates that the airline will now have a fleet of buses that will ferry passengers heading to and from JKIA for Kes. 1,000/- one way. The buses will depart from the CBD at 6am, 11am and 5pm. They will depart from JKIA to the city centre at 9am, 2pm and 9pm.
“Spacious KQ shuttle buses now leave from the Sirios Car Park on Loita Street CBD, whisking you to JKIA in comfort and style. Why go through the hassle of finding your own way there when we will take you for just Sh1,000 one way?”
The airline wrote in a notice.
The airline added that each passenger will be allowed two pieces of luggage plus hand-held items.
While this is aimed at competing with the current airport taxis which are quite pricey, we cannot forget about the newly reduced Uber costs as well as the already available public buses to the airport at just approximately Kes.100/-. This begs the question, was this a good idea by KQ? Will it thrive or flop?
Tell us, do you think this was a smart move by KQ, seeing as an Uber can pick you up from the comfort of your house and the price will probably amount to Kes. 1,000/- or less?
