Accra, Aug 22, GNA – Mr Haruna Bawa,
spokesperson for Yamen’s Fun Club, has lauded efforts by government to expand
infrastructure projects countrywide to bridge the development gap.
He said the projects had the potential to
deal with the country’s perennial youth unemployment through the opening of job
opportunities and equipping of many young persons with relevant skills to
establish their own businesses.
Mr Bawa, in an interview with the Ghana News
Agency, made specific references to the Savannah Accelerated Development
Authority initiative, and revamping of the Kumasi Shoe Factory, Komenda Sugar
Factory and Atuabo Gas Pipe.
In addition the Kumasi Kejetia project,
Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, Eastern Corridor roads, Cape Coast Sports Stadium
and Kotokraba Market in Central Region will enhance national economic growth.
“We express appreciation to the President
for the numerous development projects implemented by government to solve youth
unemployment and address economic challenges our country face,” Mr Bawa said.
“We are particularly happy that SADA has
come to provide jobs for people of the savannah belt of our country and has
been strategically positioned to bridge the gap between the north and the
south, certainly, President John Dramani Mahama is on course for the second
term,” he said.
Mr Bawa, however, stated that the National
Democratic Congress (NDC) would not win the upcoming elections if the right
calibre of people with “strategic thinking” were not employed to help push the
