Vote buying claims against Mahama ridiculous – Bawah Mogtari

Spokesperson for the NDC campaign has described as ridiculous claims by the CDD that the party and its presidential candidate are buying votes ahead of the December 7, polls.

The policy think tank in its pre-election survey published Thursday claimed that of the two major political parties in the country, the NDC leads in vote-buying ahead of the 2016 general election.

It further added that about 51 percent of Ghanaians who took part in the survey said the Mahama government has been offering gifts in exchange for their vote – representing 19 percent higher than the percentage recorded by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).

But in reaction to the findings, the deputy Transport minister said President John Mahama was given a four-year mandate and he will continue to improve the lives of Ghanaians regardless of the criticisms.

“It is ridiculous for the Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) to suggest that the donation of outboard motors to our fisher folks amounts to Vote Buying.

“Per the logic of the GII, all government projects and programs must come to a halt because we are in an election year. This argument is untenable to say the least.

“President John Dramani Mahama was given a 4-year renewable term and he will continue pursuing projects and programs that meets the needs of the people,” she wrote on her Facebook wall.
